Safeguarding Policy
How Project OWL behaves when a child may be at risk, and the limits of what this site can do.
Our role
Project OWL is an educational and signposting service. It is not an emergency service, not a reporting body, and not a substitute for the police, children’s social care or a school’s designated safeguarding lead.
If a child is in immediate danger
Call 999. If a child has been or may be sexually harmed online, report to CEOP. Project OWL always routes urgent situations to these services rather than handling them itself.
No investigation, no accusation
We do not identify alleged offenders, publish accusations, map individuals, or encourage anyone to investigate or confront another person. A warning sign is not proof of an offence.
Content standards
No graphic abuse material, no sensationalist imagery, and no content that could teach harmful behaviour. Sensitive explainers are age-gated and require an acknowledgement before opening.
Children using this site
Young OWL pages are written for children, contain no advertising, and always point back to a trusted adult or an official service.
